Some tips for a healthy hair

1. Like everything else about true, lasting beauty, healthy hair begins within your body. Start with your diet. Include lots of green leafy vegetables and sweet juicy fruits. Dairy products such as milk and fresh yogurt will also help. Fresh coconut is also considered excellent "hair food" - sprinkle grated coconut over salads, diced fresh fruit, or rice.
2. Cut down on refined, processed and canned foods. Ayurveda considers foods with artificial preservatives and chemical additives stripped of their inherent "intelligence" and therefore not helpful in supplying nutrition to your body and mind. Ice-cold beverages also hamper the process of digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
3. Cooking with certain spices adds flavor to your food and provides nourishment for your hair. Cumin, turmeric and black pepper are some "hair-friendly" spices. Add a healthy pinch of each to single-portion soups and stews as they are cooking. Sauté 1/8 –1/4 teaspoon each of the three spices in a teaspoon of ghee (clarified butter) or olive oil and add to cooked veggies. Roasted ground cumin and ground black pepper can be sprinkled over fresh yogurt.
4. Stress can be seriously injurious to long-term health and color of hair. Try and manage your time and tasks to minimize time-related pressures. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation. Seek out tranquil sights in nature to help restore balance to your mind. Relaxing or uplifting music can be therapeutic. Get adequate, good quality sleep to help the natural process of rejuvenation.
5. Ayurvedic herbs that help hair health include Eclipta alba and Gotu Kola. Eclipta alba is called "Bhringaraj" - literally, king of tresses. It nourishes the hair and helps resistance to stress as well. Brahmi, sometimes called Gotu Kola, also helps balance the mind and nourishes the hair and scalp. Since Ayurveda considers the health, color and luster of hair so dependent on overall mind/body health, synergistic Ayurvedic herbal preparations for hair can also include herbs such as Country Mallow, which is supposed to strengthen the physiology, and Winter Cherry, which aids resistance to stress.
6. Stay away from harsh chemical topical products that can damage hair over time. Look for gentle, natural cleansers and conditioners, especially if you wash your hair more than three times a week. Shampoos and conditioners that contain nourishing botanicals are even better. Read labels carefully - sometimes, products that say "herbal" or "natural" can include no-no chemicals.
7. A warm oil scalp massage two or three times a week will help stimulate and moisturize the scalp. You can use good quality coconut, almond or olive oil Ayurvedic hair oils also contain some of the herbs mentioned earlier. Apply some mildly warmed oil to your hair and gently massage into your scalp evenly with your fingertips. Leave on overnight if you can, if not, leave on for at least an hour or two, then get it out by shampooing your hair. The scalp massage helps you relax and aids sound sleep as well.
8. Never attack wet hair with a brush, no matter how rushed for time you are. Tangles in wet hair are best removed with a wide-toothed comb. Use a wooden comb if you can find one; it won't generate static electricity. Excessive blow-drying can damage hair in the long-term, making it brittle and causing split ends. If you can, let your hair dry naturally, then brush into place.
9. Last, but not least, brushing your hair regularly to stimulate the scalp will keep it looking healthy and lustrous. Brush each night in all directions in turn - left to right, right to left, front to back and back to front Use smooth long strokes from scalp to hair-tips. Your hair can indeed be your crowning glory if you treat it right!

Treatment of Dark Circles Under Eyes

And if your circles are very dark, go 2 shades lighter. You might be choosing a concealer that's too light if you are getting a 'raccoon look.

A study published in the July 5th, 2006 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association indicates that taking the maximum recommended dose of Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fourteen consecutive days can cause acute liver damage.

Medical researchers who co-ordinated this study had 106 participants take 4 grams of acetaminophen (the equivalent of eight 500 mg tablets of extra-strength Tylenol) every day for two weeks. Thirty-nine participants received placebo pills. The key results were as follows:

Those who showed signs of acute liver damage continued to show signs of liver stress four days after they stopped taking acetaminophen; it took a full eleven days for their liver enzymes to return to normal levelsWhy is your liver so susceptible to damage by acetaminophen? Because almost everything that enters your mouth, travels down your digestive tract, and gets absorbed into your blood stream must travel directly to and through your liver before it travels through the rest of your circulatory system. The Natural Toothbrush The Miswak was known before Islam, but Islam added a religious perspective to its usage.


Islamic Advice The Prophet [sallallahu alayhe wa sallam (SAWS)] recommended Muslims to clean their teeth using a miswak every day; especially after waking, when performing wudhu, before salah, when reciting the Qur'an, before sleeping, and when the mouth smells bad.


There are many ahadeeth that speak about it. Following are some of them: A'isha said that the Prophet (SAWS) said, "Ten things are natural (for one to do): Trimming the moustache, growing a beard, (using) the miswak, sniffing up water, cutting the nails, washing hands, plucking armpits, shaving pubic hair, and conserving water". (Muslim).


He (SAWS) said, "If it were not that it would create hardship for my people, I would have ordered them to use the miswak with every wudhu and with every salah."


The miswak was known before Islam, but Islam added a religious perspective to the use of the miswak. Medical Discoveries The miswak is a natural tool for brushing the teeth. It is taken from the roots and branches of particular desert trees.


It differs from one region to another, but in Arabia and Asia it is taken from the Arak tree. This is the most well known variety, and is the kind that was used by the Prophet (SAWS).


Its scientific name is Salvadora Persica. The miswak is also obtained from other trees. In Africa, for example, it is cut from Lime and Orange trees, and in America some are cut from the Senna tree. As the Arak tree is so well known, and as it was the kind that the Prophet (PBUH) used, it has been widely scientifically studied. We will summarize the various discoveries here. It is a tree that grows in hot equatorial countries, especially in desert valleys. It is widespread in the South of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt and elsewhere.


Salvador Persica is an upright evergreen small tree or shrub, seldom more than one foot in diameter reaching maximum height of three meters. The leaves are small, oval, thick and succulent with a strong smell cress or mustard. Health Effects of Miswak Physically, the miswak is a natural toothbrush. It is composed of a compact group of minute natural fibers that perform exactly the same job as a normal toothbrush except that it is made of natural fibers and not plastic ones.


For this reason it may well be gentler on the gums. Miswak's natural toothpaste is made up of a number of substances that play an important role in cleaning teeth.


Many researchers have studied the miswak in depth, and have proven that miswak contains over ten different natural chemical compounds considered essential for good oral and dental hygiene. They are: fluoride, silica, tannic acid, resins, alkaloids (salvadorine) , volatile oils (sinigrin), sulfur vitamin C, sodium bicarbonate, chlorides, calcium, benzylisothiocyanat e (BIT), and others including salicylic acids, sterols, trimethylamine, saponins, flavenoids.


Some of these components are stain removers and teeth whiteners, some protect teeth against caries, some are bactericidal and antiseptic, some help in healing and to repair tissue, some promote remineralization (building) of tooth enamel, and some give the taste and smell.


Cytotoxicity Results of cytotoxictests showed no cytotoxic (cell damaging) effects from using freshly cut miswak. However, the same plant use 24 hours after cutting did contain harmful components.


Based on these findings researchers recommend cutting the used portion of the miswak after it has been used for a day and preparing a fresh part. Scientific Comparison Between Miswak and Toothbrushes:A clinical trial study on Ethiopian schoolchildren, comparing mefaka (miswak) with the conventional toothbrush, found miswak to be as effective as the toothbrush in removing oral deposits.


The study also found instruction and supervision to be important since the children in the sample were not familiar with miswak techniques. Gingival Recession It has been reported that miswak users have significantly more sites of gingival recession (receding gums) than toothbrush users; however, this may be a reflection of poor technique. Commercial Miswak Products Some of the known commercial toothpastes produced from the Salvadora Persica plant are: Sarkan toothpaste (UK), Quali-Meswak toothpaste (Switzerland), Epident toothpaste (Egypt), Siwak-F toothpaste (Indonesia), Fluroswak miswak (Pakistan), and Dentacare Miswak Plus (Saudi Arabia). How to Use Miswak The method of preparing a miswak for use is to cut a branch or root of the Arak tree into pieces between 10 cm and 20cm in length, and between 4mm and 14mm in diameter. Occasionally some are thicker than this.


Fresh miswak is brown in color, with a hot, pleasant taste. People usually strip off some of the miswak's thin bark from one end, then chew that end a little to separate the fibers so that they become like the fibers of a normal toothbrush. They then use it to brush their teeth. Length and Diameter A length of 15cm is recommended.


This is convenient to grip and is easy to manipulate in a confined space. The diameter is normally less than 1 centimeter. This gives a supple stick firm enough to transmit the pressure of the cleansing action to the teeth without breaking off. Freshness: Miswak should be freshly cut so that it is supple, easily chewed, and still rich in active constituents. The root should be whitish-brown in color; a dark brown color indicates that the miswak is no longer fresh. If a stick is dry, the end for chewing should initially be soaked in fresh water for 24 hours.


It should be noted that soaking for unduly long periods causes loss of active constituents and diminishes the therapeutic properties, although the mechanical effects on the teeth can still be expected to occur. The end: Before miswak is used, the end should be washed with water. It is then chewed repeatedly until the fibers stand out like the bristles of a toothbrush.


These fibers should be trimmed every 24 hours.


Brushing Technique The techniques employed for removing plaque mechanically are similar to that for the toothbrush and the chewing stick; i.e., vertical and horizontal brushing. The cleaning movement should always be directed away from the gingival margin of the teeth (away from the gums) on both the buccal (outer/cheek) and lingual (inner/cheek) surfaces. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the soft tissues of the mouth.


Satisfactory cleaning can be achieved if this procedure is followed for five minutes.There are two basic holds: Pen-grip (three-finger) or palm-grip (five finger-grip) .


In each case the aim is to ensure firm but controlled movement of the brush end of the miswak within the oral cavity, so that every area of the mouth is reached with relative ease and convenience.


When to Use Miswak In general, it is recommended that the miswak be used five times a day. The use of the miswak can be satisfying if enough time is devoted to its application during the period it is the habit of keeping it in the mouth while doing other things, so that the sick is neglected. Some Guidelines For Healthy Eating

Raw Fruits and Vegetables:
Fruits and vegetables have high amounts of water, fiber, vitamins and minerals making it easy on your digestive system. Eating more raw than cooked vegetables are better for you because the more they are cooked the less the nutrients there are. Cook vegetables with as little water or fat as possible.
Meat and Seafood
Eat fresh meat and seafood with skin and fat removed. Also, eat less of red meat and eat more chicken and fish. This helps in controlling cholesterol.
Food Combinations
Do not eat fruit after any other food or on an empty stomach. Fruits take 20 minutes to digest whereas other foods take 1-2 hours. When eaten one after another fruits ferment in the stomach while waiting for other foods to digest. This can cause bloating, belching and other non-desirable side effects. It is therefore recommended to eat fruits 20 minutes before your meal or 1-2 hours after your meal. Also, eating protein (dairy foods, fish) and carbohydrates (bread, pasta) with salads or raw or lightly steamed vegetables will help prevent or eliminate many common digestive problems.

Drinking Water
Drinking plain water and not fluids is best to keep the body healthy and functioning properly. Flavored water(e.g. lemon juice added) requires digestion by the body causing extra work to be done by your system. To know how much water you need to stay healthy follow this simple formula: -divide your body weight by 3 -the answer is the number of ounces of plain water you need to drink daily to help your body stay properly hydrated Thus, by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, cutting fat in your meat and fish and drinking plenty of water you can maintain good health Insha Allah. The 10 Basics to Practice Every Day

1. Move More
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that's great when you're up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day: Cha, Cha, Cha…. Then do it!
2. Cut Fat
Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise. Thought for the day: Lean, mean, fat-burning machine…. Then be one!
3. Quit Smoking
The jury is definitely in on this verdict. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking was harmful to your health, Americans have been reducing their use of tobacco products that kill. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Could it be the Hollywood influence? It seems the stars in every movie of late smoke cigarettes. Beware. Warn your children of the false romance or 'tough guy' stance of Hollywood smokers. Thought for the day: Give up just one cigarette…. the next one.
4. Reduce Stress
Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Thought for the day: When seeing red, think pink clouds….then float on them.
5. Protect Yourself from Pollution
If you can't live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent. Thought for the day: 'Smoke gets in your eyes'…and your mouth, and your nose and your lungs as do pollutants….hum the tune daily.
6. Wear Your Seat Belt
Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.
7. Floss Your Teeth
Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body's boss.
8. Avoid Excessive Drinking
While recent studies show a glass of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer. Thought for the day: A jug of wine should last a long time.
9. Keep a Positive Mental Outlook
There's a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life. Thought for the day: You can't be unhappy when you're smiling or singing.
10. Choose Your Parents
Well The link between genetics and health is a powerful one. But just because one or both of your parents died young in ill health doesn't mean you cannot counteract the genetic pool handed you. Thought for the day: Follow these basic tips for healthy living and you can better control your own destiny.

Daily tasks

Just like brushing your teeth, healthy habits should be cultivated on a daily basis.

The following is a guide to daily tasks:

1. Activity should be a daily occurrence. Walk, run or jump for a minimum total of 20 minutes a day.

2. Protect your skin. Sun block should be applied on face, neck, arms and hands even in the dead of winter. It protects against climatic toxins too. Moisturize skin daily.

3. Eat fruits, vegetables, grains, low-fat dairy products and small amounts of protein. Avoid sweets and other processed foods.

4. Meditate or spend a minimum of five minutes daily in quiet time.

5. Find your spiritual self. Discover what inspires you, raises your level of consciousness, motivates you, and satisfies your soul.

6. Exercise your brain. Read, study, solve problems, and learn new skills. As does the body, the brain atrophies with lack of use.

7. Hug your LOVE.

MILK:The Prophet (SAWW) said that milk wipes away heat from the heart just as the finger wipes away sweat from the brow. It strengthens the back, increases the brain, augments intelligence, renews vision and drives away forgetfulness.

HONEY:Considered to be the best remedy for diarrhea when mixed in hot water. It is the food of foods, drink of drinks and drug of drugs. It is used for creating appetite, strengthening the stomach, eliminating phlegm as meat preservative, hair conditioner, eye salve and mouthwash. It is extremely beneficial in the morning in warm water and is also a Sunnah.

OLIVE OIL:Excellent treatment for skin and hair, delay old age, treats inflammation of the stomach.

MASHROOMThe Prophet (SAWW) said that mushroom is a good cure for the eyes; it also serves as a form of birth control and arrests paralysis.

GRAPES:The Prophet (SAWW) was very fond of grapes; it purifies the blood, provides vigor and health, strengthens the kidneys and clears the bowels.
DATES:The Prophet (SAWW) said that a house without dates has no food, also to be eaten at the time of childbirth.
FIGS: It is a fruit from paradise and a cure for piles. BARLEY: Good for fever in a soup form.

WATER:The Prophet (SAWW) said the best drink in this world and the next is Water, when you are thirsty drink it by sips and not gulps, gulping produces sickness of the liver. So praise be to our beloved Nabi (SAWW) who produced us with marvelous knowledge which dazzles the wisest minds. May this information be beneficial to all of us Insha-Allah.

O my Lord open my chest and make my work easy for me and open the knot of my tongue, so that they (the people) will understand my speech

I would like to start my column with the gratitude of Allah who is the Creator, the sustainer and the real Healer. He created entire world and he knows each and every thing, which is above the sky, between the sky and earth and beneath the earth. He knows what is under the bottom of seas and what is inside the mountain.
We look to the plants that stand by their roots. The beauty of plants comes by its stems, leaves, flowers. These are not useless; Allah gave healing effect on them. It is up to us how much knowledge we have about Natural things and how much we understand Allah's power.
Herbal and Nutritional products have a very important role on our health. They nourish the body, so that the body can heal itself.
Allah created plants, animals and minerals for benefit of human being and Allah also gave healing effect through them. He gave healing effect in Honey. Allah says in Holly Qur'an in Surah An Nahl Chapter 16 Verses 68 & 69 more or less meaning is that:
And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in men's habitations. Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of (varying colors, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.
At the time of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) there was no modern Medical Technology, but people of those days were healthy, because they were living their lives in a natural way, obeying the orders of Allah and following the life styles of Prophet Mohammad (SAW).
If we maintain our daily life according to Allah's Health Rule, we will be healthy. Living our lives in a simple way will protect us from many diseases. Eat those things which Allah allows to eat, avoid those things which Allah prohibits.
Manners of eating and sleeping: Before and after eating food, first we should wash our hands, sit for eating in such a manner as Prophet Mohammad (SAW) mentioned, and start eating by saying:
I begin with the name of Allah and with the barakah (blessings) of Allah.
Eat in such a way as Prophet Mohammad (SAW) said. Eat by using fingers instead of spoon and fork. Because by the order of Allah, fingers secrete enzymes during eating, which helps in digestion. During eating make 3 parts of stomach: One for food, second for water and 3rd empty.
After finishing eating praise Allah by saying:
All praise is for Allah, the one who fed us, who gave us drink, and made us among the Muslims.
If we follow these rules of eating, we will never be getting any Indigestion or stomach problems.
During sleeping if we sleep in such a way as. Prophet Mohammad (SAW) said, we will take sound sleep; never get any anxiety and tension. Before sleep we should recite the doua given by Allah through Prophet Mohammad (SAW):
Oh Allah! With Your name do I die and live
If we follow the rule of Sleeping given by Allah, we will never need to take tranquilizer during sleep. In the morning when we get up from bed, we should recite:
All praise is for Allah, the one who gave us life after death and to Him is our return.
These are called Tib-e-Nabvi, means medical Knowledge given by Prophet Mohammad (SAW). This is also Sunnah (tradition and practice of our Prophet SAW). We eat because we feel hungry; we sleep because we need body rest. But eating and sleeping according to Tib-e-Nabvi (Medical knowledge given by Prophet SAW) can become Ebada (worship).
Although we are eating and sleeping for our own desire, but we will get Baraka (blessings) from Allah, because we are following Sunnah (tradition and practice of our Prophet SAW). Don't eat carelessly, thoughtlessly and greedily. Eat in a balanced manner.
Those who do not believe or follow Allah's Health Rule or Natural Health Code are seen facing many health problems. For example: Anxiety and Tension: It is a disease of modern World and developed in Western Countries.
If we pass our lives by following Allah's Health Rule, we will take sound sleep and there will be no anxiety and Tension.
Skin Disease: Clean and wash the organ of body with water after Urination and after passing the waste materials from the body. It is very important to protect ourselves from skin diseases and other Critical problems. Those who are not following Allah's Health Rule or Health Code face many skin and other health ailments.
As we all know in the Western countries in Rest Rooms, there is concept to clean the organ and body part after Urination and passing the waste materials from body by Toilet papers, but there is no concept of washing with water, so we are seeing that Skin Diseases and other diseases related to lack of proper Hygienic Care are on increase.
Liver Disease: Use of alcohol is not allowed in Allah's health Rule. It's intoxication that brings lose of sense of well being and also its continuous use damage the liver and kidney. So those, who don't follow Allah's Health Rule, suffer in these areas and we are witnessing the percentage of kidney damage and Liver Diseases for this harmful habit which are on increase.
Its very unfortunate, people ferment the fruits, vegetables and herbs and make wine & liquor. It’s sheer abuse of Vegetations. Use the herbs and natural form and do not abuse it.
So to protect ourselves from diseases, to keep ourselves healthy, we must obey Allah's order, and implement it in every field of life. By following the example of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) we can not only have a healthy life, but make our all activities a part of Ebada (worship). Simultaneously we should convey the Allah's order to people of the book and other non-believers, so they can become aware of how they can protect themselves from diseases, and germs.
There are many hidden truths to keep our selves healthy, and we must make efforts to know and understand them, and the greatness and power of Allah (God, the Creator).
